2018 Abfall der Welt

Waste of the world

A coproduction with Theater Rampe, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg

›Waste of the world‹ plays with the mechanism of the residual, the idea of bodies as garbage, the cycle of industrial waste, as well as with the fact that dancing bodies have reached their zenith towards waste in the half of their life.

Nicki Liszta, the author Thomas Köck and the director Marie Bues develop together an evening on the cycle of waste, both ideological and material, for and with a mixed ensemble of dancers and actors.
The cooperation between backsteinhaus produktion, the Theater Rampe, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, the AdK Ludwigsburg and Schloss Solitude was born out of the desire to build on the first experience of ›paradies fluten‹ and to develop a piece together from the ground up.

Press:
»In fragmentary episodes, Thomas Köck’s haunting performance play ›Abfall der Welt‹ at the Theater Rampe sets the boundaries of garbage as a phenomenon – and becomes far more philosophical than one might think. … The fact that all of this, despite its linguistic power does not seem dogmatic, is also due to the staging of Marie Bues and Nicki Liszta. They create a lot of room for openness and performance. … a staging that leaves you, thanks to its performative openness, with clear images and strong statements.« Sabine Fischer, Stuttgarter Zeitung, 22. March 2018

»Seven actors play and dance to the jagged beats of the DJane Best Aydin. They expose the American dream as trash, they ironize and question their inner worlds and show filigree and smooth bodywork as well as rugged falls or how they are on the ropes. All together they recycle a sustainable performance out of the text material.« Volker Oesterreich, Die deutsche Bühne, 23. February 2018
